Barbados has a Free market economy that thrives on tourism as its main way of making profit, contributing more than 15 percent of total income. Though this is the case, Barbados is trying to move towards more entrepreneurships being based there. They have some light manufacturing of sugarcane, vegetables, and cotton, but beyond that there isn’t any major manufacturing. Nowadays, foreign exchange is common. It started back in the 1960s in Speightstown where they first traded with other islands in the Lesser Antilles. Today, their major trading partners are the United States and Trinidad and Tobago, occasionally trading with the rest of the Caribbean union. Barbados’ economy is growing faster with each coming day, but when oil prices spiked, they stayed at a steady economy, never really going down. They use the Barbadian Dollar as their currency, and their central bank is located in Bridgetown. Barbados is also part of the Caribbean Development Bank and the Caribbean Forum, or CARIFORUM for short. They aim to keep cooperation between the Caribbean and European unions
